"The series Literature and Human Rights was inaugurated in order to promote scholarly studies in the Hispanic and Luso-Brazilian literatures linking aesthetic theories and arguments, genre studies, and textual analyses with economic, social and political issues that condition the promotion, violation and defense of human rights, as well as the creation and definition of new human rights. In doing so, the editors and contributors are motivated by the belief tha the humanistic isues involved in the study and defense of human rights should be one of the most important factors attending the continuous process of academic canonozation of literary works, movements, trends and critical theories.
